It seems the only way to remodel a bathroom is unintentionally. The master bath has consisted of bare walls, with sections void of drywall for a few years now. We had major vapor problems that we had to take care of. Actually water issues have been pretty much all the house work up until about 2010, and even then…Functional has been good enough up until recently. We are getting tired of living in exposed frame housing.
The idea was to rip out a soffit, put in a wall fixture, finish the drywall and texture, then paint and call it good enough until we can gut it. We bought paint the other day, and on Sunday we ripped out the soffit. We; read I found a punctured ac line. With my crowbar. To say that it went POP is an understatement. The GFCI works great.
The bad part is I know better. The good thing is that we found it; the hard way; before it shorted behind the drywall on the staple. We have often wondered why the GFCI would be tripped once in a while.
Today Melissa ripped off the horrible commercial bathroom, vinyl molding. and when I came home at lunch, I noticed that the linoleum floor is peeling more that I thought. So tonight we went to the BORG to price out flooring and vanity’s to see if It makes sense to just remodel the bathroom after all and not to have to mess with it except for possibly the shower area. Melissa had an idea of the floor she wanted to put in. Three hours later we came home with a vanity and top, no floor but we have a vague plan. :-) The best part is it’s another clearance vanity. I think we’ve managed to do most of the house in the clearance aisle. At the very least, all three vanities have been clearance.
So far I am very glad we’ve removed the soffit from over the sink, it has let a lot more light in from the skylight.
