Surgery sucks.
Having the lump on my neck removed was by no means a bad thing. The healing process is very annoying. They did a small 2″ incision just at the base of my skull near my left ear. Why is that whole side of my head tender to the touch? Sure the tender area is getting smaller, millimeters a day, but it sure makes it uncomfortable to sleep on that side, wear my glasses, or my headset for work. Then there’s the incision itself. It’s placed right where Melissa like to wrap her arms. Granted, if she were taller it probably wouldn’t be an issue, but I do not recall “no hugs from the wife” being on the Doctors do’s and Dont’s after surgery. They went over everything else twice for each person that was going to be involved in the surgery. “Hi I’m Betty, I’ll be bringing the Doctor water if he needs it, have you had anything to eat or drink today? How are you feeling? Let’s take a look at your vitals…” “Hey bub, I’m Logan, I’m the night-shift janitor. Have you had anything to eat or drink today? Do you smoke? Lets look at your vitals…” Not once did they mention that there would be no hugs from the wife. Nor did they mention that the super-glue and dissolvable stitches would make it look as if I have leprosy. Leaking clear yellowish fluid? yeah that’s normal too, no mention of it though. Try as I might, I have not figured out how to blame them for the location of the incision. It is in just the right place where I couldn’t place a bandage on it so I had to go around work looking like a leaking leper. This didn’t bother me so much until the glue, stitches, and scab started falling off on it’s own. Usually onto my desk.
Exercise
one other thing I didn’t consider with the surgery was exercise. This morning was the first morning I was able to get up and walk/run with the dog. I never realized until this morning how much I actually turn my head to look for traffic when I’m out with the dog. I swear the incision felt like it completely opened the first time i did it. I checked, it was fine. I am still amazed at how many people are leaving for work at 5:30AM.
Master Bathroom progress
We didn’t get as far as I had hoped we would. My drywall taping is shite. It’ll do though since we are texturing anyhow. The section on the showers pony-wall was the big problem. The layers were built up enough prior that we probably could’ve used a thicker piece of drywall to begin with. As it is I’m about 3 days behind because of all the layers I had to do to bring it out to near level. Hopefully we can get the plastic up (learned that lesson last time) sanded, and textured tonight, Maybe I’ll have the nephews help paint on Friday. Probably not, bathroom isn’t that big. I’ll post progress pictures later.
