Love me like a lab rat.

I had today off. small intimidated yea! I also only had one thing that Had to be done. and I scheduled that yesterday. Good thing I had the day off as last night I once again woke up around midnight and couldn’t get back to sleep. Other than that everything started off good. slept in until 6. Played on the Internet until I don’t know when. Decided to fix the shower.
There was nothing really wrong with the shower. It wasn’t right either. There is the possibility that the hot water tank may be on it’s last legs. As such we’ve (well I) have been playing with the line from the head on the shower trying to find a good flow/water saving ratio. I gave up and installed a little shut off at the head. The idea being that the water can now be set to a trickle when lathering up, there by saving a lot of water. That part worked. You can set it off or pretty much control the flow rate. The downside is twofold. The flow rate sucked. There was not enough pressure to rinse without spending more time rinsing thereby using more water. The second thing was that the hot water in our house moves faster than the cold water. I’m pretty sure it does this all over the planet, but I’ll play it safe and assume that it is a problem with our house. (that kind of says something about our house don’t it.) When set to a trickle, the hot water, having been previously set to really f’n hot at the tap to combat the naturally testicles in the stomach glacial cold, now doesn’t have as much old water running through the line and slowly comes up to actually set temperature. My guesstimate is about the same temperature you need to remove dead skin without scrubbing. While I can’t (to my knowledge at this time) do anything about the searing water problem, I did drill the hole slightly bigger on the shut off valve. Works much better now. It is now back to the paint stripping pressure we like.
Having fixed the shower, then had a shower, I was ready to leave the house and figure out what I was going to do for the day.
Had to take movies back to blockbuster; Memoirs of Geisha-Really good. Titus. strange, but really good; and hit the Pet store to find a better poop rake and some treats for the dog. Dropped off the movies. Funny, what the hell time is it? 8:01AM. So off to Wal*Mart while I wait for the PetCo to open. Wandered Wal*Mart, they had clothes in my size. I bough them. Found a pair of shoes that seems like will work for the summer. been having foot troubles. i.e. they hurt and they are really warm. Got out of there with two pairs of jeans I will not wear these jeans in the garage while painting or gluing. I will not wear these jeans in the garage while painting or gluing. Three short Sleeve knit polo shirts a $1 dvd of cartoons a lead on a pair of shoes and an Egg McMuffin. Not bad.
Hit PetCo looked for poop rakes. Found poop rakes. Next to poop rake was a Halti. It a head harness to help train/walk you dog. Thought I remembered Mizkit saying she has one for her dog. Remembered that Mizkit’s new book was now out. Off to the retail book giant I go.
Got to Barnes & Noble, spent an hour in there. Couldn’t find the book. Found where another one was, still in new releases, but could not find the new book. It didn’t help matters that I could think of the name of the book either. Wait, there was supposed to be an add for it on the back of a magazine.
B&N has a lot of magazines.
I did not find the magazine.
I couldn’t remember the name of the magazine either.
I didn’t have Mizkit’s number to call her. I don’t think My cell phone bill would have liked the call anyhow.
So off to find someone to help.
It just so happens that today was some sort of Senior Center day at Barnes & Noble. Bless their little hearts There was no help to be found. So the next best method. Start in one corner of the store and go into every section that could possibly have a reason to have the book. I picked the wrong corner. Thunderbird Falls was on it’s own little table near the Alaska section at the front of the store. Grabbed the book, paid for it and got out of there before I had a bookstore accident.
While on that side of town I hit the other Wal*Mart to see if they had the shoes in my size. They did and I got them. They also had a towel dry wipe on/off car wax thingy on clearance. I still needed to was the other half of my car.
My boss has been giving me a hard time about how dirty my car was. He knows I used to wash it every week. Sometimes twice. It’s been over a year. It looked really dirty. I park in front of the building. He can’t really tell me to go get my car washed. I honestly though he was just giving me a hard time. I finally got a clue when he left a free car wash coupon on my desk. I figured I would take him up on his offer yesterday at lunch on my way home to let the dog out.
There was a really really long line. I went home instead.
Then I, being the smart ass that I am, got an idea. I would was the half of the car he parks next to.
It went over well. Lots of head shaking and laughter. As he left on Wed he said he would just have to park on the other side of my car.
My intent was to was the dirty side, mask off that half, then make the currently clean side of the car really filthy. I have 3 days to decide.
I got home and decide since it was only noon I would wash the car before I headed to the Doctors office for a physical. 1st one in a really long time. 10 years maybe longer.
I listed to the dog whine while I washed the car, went to the doctors appointment. Sat in the lobby reading Mizkit’s other book the precedes the current book, had my appointment. They did a biopsy on the white things under my eye, and I got a tetanus/whooping cough shot. So I currently have a hole in my face, and a hole in my arm.
went home, talked to the wife a bit, took the dog for a walk with the new ‘headset’ leash. Works really good by the way. Got back and spent the next hour breaking in the new poop rake. just recently has all the snow been gone long enough for the back yard not to be a swamp. Low residue dog food ans water do not mix. Well really it does, into a kind of yucky soup that dries into this weird no baked ceramic mess.

Looking back it was all pretty mundane, but like a weeks worth of non essential errands into one day. plus the doctors visit. This is why I feel like a lab rat. How fast can he get through the maze?

and my Jaw is still sore from chewing on my cheek.

  1. …they didn’t have THUNDERBIRD FALLS in the sf/fantasy section? o.O
B&N doesn’t carry Locus magazine, actually. You have to go to Borders.

    • Nope. It looked like all 20 or 30 copies were on the table with a sign “Local Artists” It was over in the ‘drive-thru’ section. :) at the front of the store near the couches.
It would have helped if I could have remembered Locus magazine. or had read the word Locus more carefully. I kept thinking the title had something to do with grasshoppers.
I’m going to Borders today to look for the new Negima (Damn You Jack! Damn You!) If I can remember Locutus, Locust, or locus it’ll go much easier than flipping all the magazines around.
I still can’t believe no one came by and asked “May I help You?” I mean sure I figured I could skip the Guitar magazine sections some I wasn’t sure of though, what if it was a car magazine. Given the character it kind of makes sense. At least that and others made sense yesterday. I never should have studied marketing.(or rather Disney synergy)
