Granted my morning started out not going according to plan with the mysterious magic line of people at the lab where I went to get my blood drawn.
I was the second one in when they opened the door. I was the first one checked in to go up to the lab. When I went up to the lab there were six ass holes a head of me. I went there at 9am and got home at 10:30. It took them 5 minutes to process my paperwork and draw my blood.
On the bright side I did finish the Walker papers 1.5 :)
I went home. Got some coffee in me, some food too.
Then I headed to Ken’s.
He called last night with Windows MCE woes. In the middle of the night it had made that flippin’ chord sound. The next morning there was no display. Rather, no windows desktop.
The sad thing is I knew I could blindly right click then navigate the Nvidia display menu and get it set to defaults and set the display back (if all had been OK).
It didn’t work. I figured I must have missed a key or there was something popping up on the restart and attempted to reboot. No dice.
Hard Reboot, the bios page pops up (which is quite funny to see on a 100inch screen btw) the window logo, then nothing. It must’ve lost the TV out.
Trudge downstairs: borrow a monitor. Repeat process.
NO DESKTOP ON THE MONITOR. WTF!
Try to get into safe mode, no dice. I attempt numerous times, then remember. STUPID MICROSOFT KEYBOARD WITH NO F-LOCK KEY!!!!!
Go upstairs and borrow a keyboard. Get into safe mode. Re-Install the display driver.
Yeah, we have picture.
Boo, it’s much different than before. It over scans the screen. We can deal with that.
After an hour, apparently we can’t deal with that.
Try to play TV. It initially plays in a little tiny square (well 1ft by 1 ft) in full screen mode. When you get out, it copies the same freaky thing into the little TV window. If you hit stop, then resume, all is well. After 2 hours we could not get it straight. I was going in circles, and it was taping shows just fine so I left it for now.
I figured it must have been a failed update as the chord sound was around 3AM and that’s where all the logs point. It’s also when the computer is set to update.
The windows update says to uninstall it add/remove programs.
It’s not in there.
I hate Microsoft.
