Taking a step back from something is a good thing every now and then. I took a break from the library project because of some finishing issues that cropped up. I am now only angry instead insanely furious when I think about it. It’s been since June 23rd. I am nearly ready to start on it again. I have decided to get the garage/shop/Pat Cave in a more respectable/functional order before proceeding. I fear that the shape of the shop may have had something to do with the failed finish. I have spent the last few weeks adjusting and upgrading the garage/shop. Rearranging the garage and rethinking how I work. So far it has been a boon to productivity. I also built a new server that takes up hardly any power (40w) and have a chip amp set up to play tunes off of. I’ve discovered that Gogol Bordello really helps with the creativity (thanks to Melissa’s friend Laura for the suggestion, just wish they didn’t make me crave Ukrainian food so much) and just about any Irish Punk helps with the getting the work done bit. Between The Tossers, Flogging Molly (again, thanks Laura) and the Pogues. I’ve built a new set of shelves highly cost effectively with way high souse approval started a whole new set of storage cabinets and work centers, finished (finally) the drawers and doors for the router table. Designed a new cabinet and hutch for the dining room to be made out of scrap that is taking up space in the shop I have thus far got a lot accomplished in a (relatively) short amount of time with very little expense. who know I still had this much shit around the shop.
We are down to just a few PC’s and a couple of Internet appliances. in the end the iPad has made that much difference. we no longer have a PC hooked up top the home theater. just a tiny WD Live box. The bedroom currently has a net-book with the RMA’d little Atom box coming back soon. The server is a little Atom board with 2.5TB of storage in a tiny shoe box case Melissa uses an HP touchscreen notebook and I have a little core2duo PC and the iPad.
So I’ve spent the last few months filtering the crap out of my life. It finally feels like I’m making progress. That reminds me, I’ll have to plan a trip to the Doctors and the dump in the next couple of weeks.
