Apparently if there is anything in the passenger seat I will instinctively protect it. Not that my arm is going to do a whole lot of good in an actual car crash. It really doesn't make any sense either. I don't have children, I barely ever had any of my younger sibling in a vehicle with me that I can recall, and it's not like there is some sort of 40 mph human cannonball prevention instinct that we inherit.
