Day 68, or there abouts…

So far still loving Tacoma. I finally had another interview today. It had been nearly a month with out a response to a resume or application. It doesn’t pay near what I made before. Exactly half what I made really. It also has weird hours and some weekend and on call work. I think I’m ok with all that. I won’t know for sure until I’m offered the job and have been there a while. I think the position will be rewarding in other ways. It also has decent benefits and 2 weeks vacation after 90 days. It is certainly better than ‘just a paycheck’ and it has potential for movement within the company.

Today I found myself going a bit stir crazy for the first time. Not bad really considering we are currently living in a dungeon apartment at the top of a hill, in the middle of the woods, just far enough from everything that there isn’t a store or cafe within walking distance. Oh, and the dog and cat have fleas. I decided to go to the antique sandwich company in Ruston. It’s a bit of a drive from the apartment, but it’s walking distance from the house we put an offer on. They have inexpensive tea, you get a whole pot! and the sandwiches are wonderful. This is definitely going to be a place I bring family and friends when they come to visit.

The house we are buying is just on the edge of Ruston, but the town is small enough that we can walk anywhere, including Point Defiance Park, which has a zoo, rose garden, beach, trails, etc. We can also walk to the waterfront. There’s even a soda fountain and malt shop.
I just wish we would hear something on it. Short sales are a bit nerve racking. It’s like they have coffee, go out to the bar, give you a call and ask for a small bit of information. A couple of weeks later they ask you for another bit of information that they could have easily asked prior. Have more coffee, hang out at the water cooler, watch their soaps, do their laundry, ask you a completely unrelated question, lather, rinse, repeat.

Jumping back a bit, I think I’m going to have to find a way to make extra income. If this means starting the whole furniture thing sooner than we intended then that’s what I’ll need to do. I hope I can build the new library shelves before we get to that point though. This is where the odd hours of the job I interviewed for today will be beneficial. Most days I’ll be home by 4, giving me time to work on projects, get supplies, before stores close. I’ll also have time during the week since there will be some Saturday’s swapped out for weekday time. Really, the only thing I’m not enthusiastic about the job is the pay.

With my luck I won’t get it anyhow.
