Glutten for punishment

So my Ubuntu, in their infinite wisdom decided to break my install with the last update. I was unable to get flash video to play properly, this put a real dent in my porn consumption. So after trying out a couple of different distributions, most of which ended up based on Debian, or Ubuntu (which is based on Debian). one I tried that was pretty fast was slax, a more user friendly tiny distribution of Slackware. I figured I’d give it a go, but being the fool that I am, decided to just jump into the deep end and switch to Slackware. My timing isn’t the greatest as I’m still trying to get the Library finished, So there isn’t much time to learn a very hands on OS, but if need be, there is always the window7 floater drifting around. So far today I haven’t needed it, but it did take me an hour to get Flash up and running. Mostly because for 55 minutes I kept reinstalling and running scripts then checking on a site that had an original shockwave player test. NOT a Flash test. I’d still be at it too if I hadn’t received an email with a video link and it dawned on me it was a flash file that was playing. I guess I wanted to make sure it really good and installed.
So far I’m glad for the switch, my fonts are small again, my windows are not on the Jumbo Tron, so I can actually make effective use of the resolution of the monitor. It’s pretty damned fast too, even with KDE running all kinds of crap. (gotta change the KDE to something else though, maybe)
We’ll see how long this lasts, I haven’t yet had to install software that isn’t found on the DVD, and there are quite a few programs that I use that are not included.
