Obviously I still haven’t gotten around to posting pics of the outside work.
I did however get my hands on the Pogues box set. I am so far loving it very much. Especially the three different demos of Farytale of New york. They are much slower, and some of the lyrics are different and/or mumbled through to get past a forgotten line, or possibly just drunk. I usually really like albums like this, where its different takes of known songs. An excellent example is the Beatles Escher Demos, also called The white album unplugged. Sometimes I’ve found that I prefer the ‘outtake’ over the original. Like John Lennon’s Imagine from the film soundtrack of the same name, or Otis Redding’s Sitting On the dock of the Bay take 1 comes to mind. If you’ve never heard it, (and you like Otis Redding)you should try and find it, It is Otis Redding raw. His voice hasn’t been ‘cleaned’ at all, he can’t whistle, and he makes seagull sounds.
So I’ve got the month of hell at work, The Pogues playing (rather loudly) in the background, I made some killer mashed potatoes with red potatoes, a yeller pepper, fresh ground pepper, wasabi powder and swiss cheeze. Breakfast tomorrow fried in a pan. Yum.
We’re up to season six of the original Dr Who. We’re almost through all the recreations. It is interesting to watch a show from the past that deals with it’s future which happens to be our present. Especially when it was filmed before satellite images of the earth, or before we even landed on the moon. I’m really glad that we don’t have those giant headsets like they think we do.
I still haven’t started the shelves for the library. Just been too tired by the time I get home. It’s hard enough to even get my exercise in, let alone being just mentally drained. I usually pick at the garage on my lunch hour, but Melissa’s off this week so I don’t need to come home at lunch so I can save some gas that way. Though today I did go to this really good place that serves Vietnamese Noodle soup. One of our customers sisters is the owner. I may have found a new comfort foot. I sat out in the car and ate it. Apparently I had a big grin on my face, and did the ‘happy eating thing’ because when I came in a coworker asked me if it was good, while laughing at me. I will have to go back before the week is out.
I’m still liking Windows 7. So far everything I’ve thrown at it it’s handled. And I hate that. Not because It’s Microsoft, but because I’ll have to pay for it in 2010. Luckily we don’t need all that much Pay software for the PC downstairs. I think my favorite stupid feature thing thus far is the revolving background.
Well I’ve written a lot, and not really said a thing.
Pogue Mahone!
