Happy Un-Birthday to me

To further not celebrate a year of actually sticking with a project, I thought it time to update the blog portion. February is a long time ago. Much of the comics I have lined up for the next year require a much more flexible Paddy.

Currently Paddy is only as flexible as needed for the holiday decoration that he is. basic 90 degree up and down for the  shoulder sockets, hip sockets, knees, elbows, wrists and feet, and a pop top head similar to the original Barbie. (Coincidentally, neither have nipples or sexual organs.) This has made it very difficult to do much more than I already have position wise.  (No pun intended) Especially since “Pose n Stay” is more like “Pose and Pray that he doesn’t fall, or his arm doesn’t move while you’re taking the shot”. What I’d like to do at the very least is make his toes bend, fingers articulate, and the joints he has more stable. It would be even nicer if I could get proper wrist and leg movement, as well as hip and shoulder.

I have ideas on how to fix the feet and toes with armature wire, but I’m betting there is probably a better way. So I’m asking  for some help from anyone with experience making pose-able models on a larger scale. Specifically, recommendations for types of armature wire, typed of hardware to mimic shoulder and hip joints, best glues that hold up to use for aluminum, steel and plastic. I currently have two stunt doubles to chop up into various pieces. One to work on, and one for mistakes.

Also, If there is anyone relatively local with two of the Costco Pose and Stay Skeletons from last year in good shape, I’d be willing to trade for the two I just bought. They’ve changed the mold slightly, not that it would be noticeable in the comic, but I’d rather have matching parts to deal with.

contact me for either in the email link at the top of the page.
