I am Pooped again.

Before I forget, A big thank you to John and Rose for helping us get the window moved, lifted and put in.

Today got the old window out and the new window in, and the outside trim done.

Actually got a project mostly done in one day. How ’bout that. Today we installed the new window downstairs. Today also marks 8 years at my job; not that I was there today. train of though derailment Oh, did I mention I found another REALLY good beer.
I’ve been fond of everything from the Stone Brewing Co., Particularly Arrogant Bastard Ale. This one is not like those, it’s ferin. It’s called Rodenbach, it’s a Flemish sour ale. It’s like drinking Sourdough bread. It’s a good thing I don’t care for the effects of alcohol (don’t even like the slight sleepiness from crappy beer) I enjoyed this enough I could easily go broke. As it is, I think of beer as a treat, it’s (or rather my taste is) too expensive to drink all the time, esp when the stuff I enjoy is $3 – $15 a bottle. and yes, one is generally good enough for a month or 4.

On with the pictures…
Here is the finished siding project. I tried to pick out cedar trim for the front door that was solid, but rough looking. That way you couldn’t tell that it was replaced.

I finished most of that yesterday, just have the vent areas to do.
Today we got up and after eating took out the old window in the living room.

and no, our house is not that dark inside. It was really sunny out today, and hot. (well, not really ‘hot’, but working in the sun. We did put on shorts, even though it didn’t even reach 60) Here is what the inside of the house looked like…

Living Room Stuff

It went much easier than I thought it would. Sadly it was because the window was only held in by a few nails on the brick molding. The window frame itself was not attached to anything but the brick-mold. The nice thing is the window wood is in good enough shape, I intend to recycle it. I will probably slice it up and make really nice screens for the upstairs windows.

The new window was really heavy. It took four of us to carry it over to the back of the house and put it in. It was a nice afternoon with the in-laws. Have a little lunch, put in a window, some dessert… and eventually let the cat out to make sure everything was done correctly.

After a quick trip to the BORG to get some lap siding, and a bit of paint…

Living Room Window Finished

Now all that is left to do is the interior trim.

So that leaves:
finish up crawl space vents
finish interior trim on downstairs window
caulk and seal upstairs windows
Install roof vent below loft skylight
Hope vent works so we don’t have to tear out ceiling
go to Michigan
Hope some more.

Yup, that’s about as much planning as I can take.
