So still kind of picking at the site design. Mostly been busy with finishing up training at work. One more week left. To unwind I like to play solitaire on the tablet. Well that and dick around on Tumblr.
With solitaire, I stumbled upon Microsoft solitaire as a decent choise as it will play across all platforms, and when discovered it keeps stats as well, it was much more interesting. As I said I play to relax, but also as pattern recognition. I do not play timed as I do not like the count down, drives me to anxiety. So I play standard draw 3. I also play only solvable, this way I know If im out of moves, Ive done something not right. It more of a ouzzle solving than a game play I suppose. Ive played a lot over the last year.
Ive also been at 97% for a really long time. (I didn’t start off with solvable only and clicked the wrong button a few times). Tonight I became curious how many more games until I get to 98%. So rather than do the maths, I thought it would be more intersting and a better use of my wasting time to do a spreadsheet. This is not the easiest thing to do on a tablet as there is no apparent fill series option, and you cant really page down, but I decided no big deal it was easier than going downstairs.
Easy enough to start off though in hindsight i should have started with the next game so that the row label would accurately show how many games left to reach that point. I guess I can subtract 1. 😁
After a bit of copying and pasting I got to this:
Not bad. Ill probably get to that point in a few weeks, maybe a month. Now though I was curious about something new. Using the spreadsheet kind of gave this a sense of scale. The scrolling and pasting gave me an idea of how many games it actually is. So I decided to see how many games until 99%. It’s 1736. That’s probably about another year and a half assuming I dont accidentally click the wrong button and increase games lost. So this begged the next question, I know I can never get 100%, but how long until 99.9%? It’s sort of like trying to reach the speed of light in that the closer you get to 100%, the more power you need to get there. In this case power being number of games played. It’s quite mind numbingly large.
So to go from 99% to 99.9%; that’s not even a whole percentage point. Just 9/10ths of a percent; Ill have to play nearly 27,901 games, as well as not get any wrong or click the wrong button. It would take 10 years playing an average of 8 games a day. Every day. For 10 years. Realistically Im looking at 19 years. The rate I play. Happy 40th anniversary love… 😁 Im doing this all for you 🤣😂
