Have to work today.
Slept like crap last night. It was dumping down rain. Which caused dreams of the crawl space.
It had filled up and was overflowing out the entry hatch. I turned to Melissa and asked “shouldn’t it be pouring out the vents too?” “Wait…” she said, “Like that?” “oh, yes that’s more like it.” We went back to the garage and the water was flowing nicely down the middle and the sump pump creating a little fountain through it. There were even little paper and walnut boats floating down the stream. I remarked that it was the “Maylone Cup”. I looked around, saw that the garage was clean and woke up with that same clenched fist nauseated feeling you get when you’ve had a falling dream.
I find it odd that it was perfectly acceptable to to have water in the crawlspace deeper that the ground is outside. It was also OK to have it NOT coming out of the vents outside until Melissa said so. It must also be perfectly normal to have paper & walnut boats sailing down the flow out of the crawlspace. But a clean garage? heavens no, you must be dreaming! Wake up before you hit the ground!
For those of you that don’t know what walnut paper boats are…
When you crack a walnut, sometimes you get half a shell intact. Save one. then once it believes in Jesus, put it aside. Then you take a tooth pick and put a little piece of paper on it like a sail. The yardarm style is what I remember, but others could be made to work.
Drop a little candle dripping (that would be wax) into the walnut shell, and quickly place your sail/mast into it and hold it until the wax cools.
Fill up the bathroom sink, place the walnut/paper boat in the sink and you’re done.
For the big spenders out there you can get premium walnuts, plastic toothpicks, printed rice paper, and fill the Jaccuzzi tub with hot water.
Walnut boats are one of my few childhood memories that have stuck with me from the house in Taylor MI. The sink of course, NOT the tub.
