Working very slowly.

During commercial breaks of dead like me and EureKa last night I mostly finished the molding. There are about two little pieces left and one big one to attach. The dog is terrified of the compressor that I use to drive the brads in, so when I tried to attach the large piece and discovered I was out of brads I decided to call it a night. Yes I should be using larger nails but we know we are going to re do the floor in the entry eventually and the brads will make it real easy to remove the molding without damage. Besides, they’re 2 inch brads and I don’t have a nail gun. I tried nailing the first set up by hand, the walls are too curvy.

Assuming I don’t get side tracked (odds are stacked against me) I should be able to work on the window seat this weekend.

The car. Dropped it off at Prof Auto Fri night for them to look at the strange brake issue and to put on the snow tires that my FIL got for me. Breaks are better, it was a small adjustment on the rears. (no charge$ yea!) I have the snow tires on.
I didn’t realize how bad my tires were before. There is only 1/8 to 1/4 in of tread left. It’s no wonder I had no traction in the snow, or light rain for that matter. They were fairly quiet tires though. In comparison, these tires have about an inch of tread, spread out in 1/2 in channels and have studs. They are the same make and type we used to have on the Blazer and the Jimmy. They are excellent tires for the snow. Yes, they are truck tires. Yes, they are about 10mm to large for the car. They are VERY aggressive looking and very noticeable on the car. My boss made the comment “I was going to hint that you should wash the car again, but you’d probably just go mud bogging and get it dirty”. They’re very noisy tires too. When I’m backing down the driveway they make soo much noise it makes me think of King Kong trying to tip-toe through the suburbs. sneaky, sneaky CRUNCH sneaky SMASH sneaky SQUASH When I hit about 40 mph it sounds like a multi engine prop plane. Being a Buick it rides like one too. I’m really interested to see how well it does in the snow now. but I can wait.
