Homeworked

Next week I go to the office and sanitize my cubicle. I will be working from home going forward. That’s both of us working from home on a permanent basis at this point. I have probably rearranged my office 20 times since March 2020. I will likely do so again a few more times. as my needs change.

We decided to get Air Conditioning installed for next year. This caused us to need to replace the furnace as well as it was rather old. We looked at costs vs return, and figured that as much as we will actually use the AC, we didn’t need the super efficient, but did opt for the High efficiency furnace as well as the electrostatic HEPA filter system. This turned out to be a really good choice. not only do we no longer have two awkward size paper/fabric filters to replace every month, I don’t need to run my giant shop air cleaner filter in the house, and we get better air flow on the furnace intake.

None of it all was cheap, and the AC unit still has to be installed (has been on backorder), but when we think about how in 20 years of homeownership we haven’t had to replace a furnace at all, and that we are installing an AC unit as well, it still seems expensive. It will be nice next summer to not have to put the window unit into the bedroom, and the portable unit in my office while leaving Melissa slightly warmer. My office and the Master Bedroom are on the southwest side of the house with no shade. it gets rather hot in there.

So far the furnace is exceeding our expectations. Even if there were some install issues due to the nature of our crawl space.
