Yesterday.

Went to Providence to stay with my nephew for a bit. I got there around 9? maybe it was 9:30? in any event it took almost an hour just to get up to see him. I had know idea how many people I knew that worked there. I ran into 13 on my way up to the 3rd floor. The 10 or so people that I knew worked there, were not in the 13. Though, I’m not entirely sure all of them worked there, I suppose they may have just been there. In any event it was very strange.
When I got up to my nephew he was playing Star Wars Battlefront on the PS2. It may have been the small 13″ screen that I was sitting 6 feet away from trying to learn a whole new system, but I just couldn’t get the hang of the controls. It occurs to me now that I have never seen a PS2 other than in a store. What I would have thought was a POV control called troops (that weren’t there) The movement controls are backwards from a keyboard and there’s no flippin’ mouse! I gave up rather quickly before I got too frustrated.

We went back to his room and watched sponge bob (strange cartoon) and tried to drive little RC cars on a waxed floor. (very amusing). The we got him semi packed up for when Mom and brothers got there, and continued to play with the cars.

Mom arrived with siblings in tow, and off we went to the house for an afternoon of Warcraft, Luxor, file transfers, plus Lilo and Stich. Oh and I finally ate something.
The oldest had some mods for Warcraft3, While he played the replay I got them access to our network/internet. The Wee one watched Lilo and Stitch and chased the dog and the middle one played Warcraft then Luxor. Mostly it was a listening session as the two older boys had not seen me in a while.

We all went to pick up my BIL at the airport. Lots of people there. Lots of Soldiers getting home. It’s really something to see. and feel. You really start to understand the photos you see from the end of WWII. They take on a whole new life. It’s a perspective I’m glad to now have, but it would have been nice if I never had it in the first place, but we are humans so it was bound to happen sooner or later and in my lifetime. It will happen again too.

Perhaps more later.
